The BIG One with Googaro! {Review + Giveaway}

Its Day 9 of our The BIG One! First birthday event, and we're celebrating Open Hand's Sweet Pea and Buddy Doo's first birthdays with Googaro!

As many of you know, subscription boxes have become extremely popular.  Its obvious to see why....who doesn't love getting a surprise at their doorstep every month??  Finding the right monthly subscription box can be overwhelming, though.  We stumbled upon some reviews for the new Googaro box and just knew we had to share with all of you!  Googaro is a monthly service delivering innovative baby products.  With Googaro, you'll discover 4-5 award-winning, 'best-of' baby products every month.  Its a little pricier at $32 per month (includes shipping) but its boxes are filled with higher value items than most boxes, so it makes up for it I promise :)

One thing that I've come to like with subscription boxes is the presentation.  Typically when you get a good, clean presentation you'll also get decent products.  Messy boxes tend to contain messy or broken items, so when I opened the box and saw the pretty and crisp tissue paper and adorable Googaro sticker (seriously, that has to be the cutest elephant ever!) I knew not to worry about what was inside.

The first thing that caught my eye when I saw the items was this cute little ball toy.  Buddy Doo is beginning to appreciate different types of toys, and the textures and noise this little fella had sure amused him.  I also really like that the website to order more is directly on the box.  Hoots is a small beastie ball (similar to Hairy found here) that is a soft toy for your little one's delicate hands.  With a soft inner core and washable terry cloth outer, you won't have to worry about your little one playing or slobbering all over it!  It has multiple knotted soft fabric tabs for them to grasp and a rattle inside.  At $8.95, its a cute addition to any toy collection!

While Buddy Doo was busy playing with the crinkly sounding snack bag, I immediately snatched up the ZoLi Bot.  My friend and I were comparing sippy cups a month or two ago at her son's first birthday party and she mentioned how she saw this really neat one where the inner straw bottom was weighted.  I couldn't remember what she said the name of it was before, but after I saw the name I knew I had the one she was talking about in my hands.  That's what I love about Googaro!  You're not only introduced to new products, they send you the best of the best award-winning products.  Buddy Doo has just started drinking from a straw maybe a week ago so he's still getting the feel for this sippy.  The straw is neatly hidden under the sliding lid (great for travel and keeping it clean when not in use) which I really like, but Buddy Doo gets so distracted pulling it back and forth that he forgets to drink from the straw.  Its really cute and I know its just because its new and he's curious.  Its not leak-proof, but we haven't had a spill yet.  I love the flexible silicone straw and its the perfect size for Buddy Doo.  Its not awkwardly sticking up like some do and its not insanely tiny or big and uncomfortable.  Its for 9 months and older, BPA and phthalate, holds a convenient 6 oz, valve-free, and the best part: the unique weighted ball straw technology moves to the liquid no matter which way its tilted!  This ensures Buddy Doo gets to enjoy his sippy until the very last drop and is probably the coolest thing I've seen in awhile.  This may even be our favorite item in the box!  You can get the BOT in a few different colors here for only $12.00.

One thing I've noticed to be consistent with subscription boxes is that there is usually some sort of food item.  In the past it has been primarily food pouches, rice cakes, or cremes, but these Garden Veggie Straws were a nice little change!  I honestly didn't think they would be straws (yeah yeah it says straws on the package) because usually straw food products get clogged somehow or aren't completely hollowed out.  They didn't taste salty at all which I was expecting with the 'sea salt' label on the side, and in all honestly tasted like potato chips.  Its all natural with no preservatives, and spinach and tomato were added for flavor.  I've seen veggie sticks before so I was excited to try these, but I was rather disappointed when they tasted like any other bag of (less salty) Lay's potato chips.  Buddy Doo loved them though and snacked on most of the bag over the last couple of days.  I honestly don't know if I would buy these again, but I do love trying new products even if they aren't exactly a hit :)  You can find these garden veggie straws at most Toys R Us and Walmart locations for between $1-3!

We already own a thermometer for Buddy Doo, but its an ear and temple thermometer and it didn't even occur to me we would need to add an oral thermometer to our collection soon.  Thank you Googaro for being a step ahead for me!  We've used American Red Cross safety and health products in the past and trust in them for our medicine cabinet and emergency travel bag in the trunk of my car.  Buddy Doo just turned one so I was a little nervous to try it, but he seemed to take it like a champ.  He was more intrigued by it than anything.  I compared it to our other thermometer and was pleased to find similar results.  Maybe its just because I'm a first time mom, but every time Buddy Doo feels a little warm and I check his temperature I get some doubt as to how accurate the reading actually is when his temperature falls in the 'normal' category.  Its nice to be reassured, and I'm so thankful that Googaro included an item that he can use in the long-run.  Buddy Doo loves the toys found in subscription boxes but I truly appreciate that Googaro went further and actually got a real product mom can enjoy or will actually use.  You can add the sanitary slide oral thermometer to your health and medicine cabinet for only $5 plus FREE shipping at Amazon for limited time! (Normally $10).

We actually own quite a bit of Green Sprouts products so I was a little worried when I saw the 'green sprouts' logo that it would be something we already owned.  The one thing we probably don't own from Green Sprouts are these nifty long-sleeved waterproof bibs!  Its PVC free, has a velcro closur, full-coverage, and this really neat flip pocket at the bottom that you can 'flip' out to be a crumb catcher.  Now, its no easy task to wiggle this on the squirmy and hungry Buddy Doo, but its still a really awesome product to have on hand for spaghetti night.  I may cut the sleeves straight down and convert to snaps so wrestling this bad boy on isn't such a feat.  I'm already considering buying more and you can find them at iPlay for $28 for a 2-pack!

The overall value of our box was 45.95 (not including tax), and at a cost of only $32/box (with FREE shipping) that's a savings of $13.95 before tax!  While that's not an enormous savings but that's not bad compared to most. I can honestly see us using every single item in this box for a good while.  Although the snack wasn't that loved in our household, it was still something I would have probably bought while grocery shopping anyway.  My favorite item is the BOT sippy straw and we've already bought the blue one for a spare!  Googaro is hands down my new favorite.  Yes, I love subscription boxes because of the surprise element and the products we receive, but for just a few dollars more we are guaranteed the items in our box will be a hit.  Googaro doesn't just let any product or company be featured in their boxes, they include only award-winning, top-notch, mommy lifesavers that are truly unique.  Baby/toddler subscription boxes has been slightly disappointing across the board lately and Googaro is about to give them all a run for their money!

Buy: You can purchase a 3, 6, or 12 month subscription here!  There's even discounts for purchasing the 6 or 12 month subscriptions :) Don't forget you can always gift a subscription too! Whether you live far away and can't attend or simply don't know what to give, Googaro makes the perfect gift for any baby or toddler.
